The new school year has started for most kids, and that means lots of families are trying to get back in the swing of things after a long summer. If you’re having trouble settling back into your school-year routine, here are some quick tips.
If school hasn’t started yet, go to the open houses the school is holding so you can meet the new teacher(s) in advance. This lets you get a feel for them, find out what the workload will be, and get your child comfortable with them before their first day. While you’re there, take a tour of the school so your child gets familiar with the layout of their new classroom or building.
You should also connect with other parents in the class if you haven’t already, whether through social media or just getting their phone numbers, so you can find out who’s in your child’s class and what’s going on at school throughout the year.
Get your kid excited for school starting with a school shopping trip by letting them pick out a few special items and telling them about what upcoming projects they might be used for.
Ease them into a daily routine by waking them up early and going through the morning motions in the couple of weeks leading up to their first day.
