The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 offers a whole lot of reasons for truck drivers to take a new Silverado home, such as a wide range of new engines, including a new diesel option coming early next year. Yet another reason? The 2019 Silverado 1500 Durabed, which Chevrolet has called the “most functional bed of any pickup.”
And that’s no baseless claim. The new Durabed offers best-in-class box depth, box length at floor, and cargo volume. It also offers 12 fixed tie-downs — more than any other truck in the segment — and an exclusive power liftgate.
So how does this stack up against the 2018 Silverado? The Durabed offers an extra 10 cubic feet in Short Box models and Standard Box models and an extra 14 cubic feet in Long Box models.
And what about the competition? The Silverado 1500 Durabed continues to use high-strength steel while the biggest competitor relies on weaker aluminum. The Durabed also offers up to 10 more cubic feet in Short Box models and Long Box models and 12 more cubic feet in Long Box models than the competition.
“The bed is the heart and soul of any pickup, so we made several improvements to the bed of the all-new Silverado to give our customers an even better hauling experience,” remarked Tim Herrick, executive chief engineer, Full-Size Trucks, General Motors. “We’ve added so many features and benefits that it deserves its own name – Durabed.”
