Chevrolet Camaro’s 50th Anniversary
One of the most well-known American muscle cars to ever hit public roadways is the Chevrolet Camaro. This year, the Camaro celebrated its 50th anniversary in a big way. General Motors took its largest brand to a new level through a number of events. The events celebrated the Chevrolet Camaro’s 50th anniversary and most of all its heritage.
The largest of events took place at the Woodward Dream Cruise. It was a week-long event that drew in Camaro owners from around the country. At the event, the 100,001st 1967 Camaro was on display. And was than later added to the National Historic Vehicle Register.
Than to unveil the Camaro generation that would be in production for the 50th anniversary Chevrolet revealed the sixth-generation model at a fan event. This event at Belle Isle took place in May 2015 and saw a limited audience of owners, media, and fans.
While Chevrolet reject registrations for the Woodward Dream Cruise citing limited space. 550 owners were still able to registered. Top Camaro team members, including chief engineer Al Oppenheiser, attended and spoke at the event.
With the launch of the sixth-generation Camaro well underway, the legendary muscle car is clearly looking forward to the next 50 years.
